We have all experienced anxiety or depression at some point in our lives. Whether you are working with it currently, have struggled in the past, or would like to learn tools to pass on to a loved one; this supportive and nurturing weekend together can help.
You’ll learn and practice fundamental skills to attenuate the effects of anxiety, depression, grief or loss; within the body, mind and heart. Sessions will include journalling, movement practice, breath work, relaxation techniques and short meditation/visualizations.
Our weekend together will look at suffering from a yogic philosophy perspective, combining mindfulness and relaxation techniques, with easeful physical practice and plenty of discussion, lecture and contemplation. Rebekka has been teaching this program for 8 years now and it has been a great success. Open to all ages and abilities, it's also applicable to people working in the health and counselling arena, as well as those dealing with stress, recent loss, trauma or grief. The program began as a course offered to counsellors working in the DTES, and has grown from there. Many therapists and psychologists refer their clients to the weekends, and as numbers are limited to 15, it will sell out quickly.
Bowen island residents are still eligible for the earlybird tuition of $120, and tuition includes all 4 weekend sessions, as well as your program booklet, 30 minute self care program, and a post workshop Skype or email session.
Sessions will be held at the beautiful Bowen Island Yoga, dates and times are listed below, and the weekend is scheduled so that you may commute easily either via foot ferry from Granville Island, or BC Ferries from Horseshoe Bay (either ferry is about 15-20min).
