What do you do when you’ve had a long day and your son or daughter just won’t listen to what you are saying?  How do you react to frustrating moments in the grocery store or on the road?  What do you say to yourself when you are disappointed in something you did or did not do?  How do you wish you responded in these situations?  
Compassionate Communication, also known as Nonviolent Communication (NVC), offers tools for discovering what is most important to us at the deepest levels and, from this clarity, helps us to be in real choice from moment to moment, as opposed to reacting from our habitual patterns and fears. It supports us to deepen our consciousness to be fully the people we want to be in our most important and intimate relationships, as well as in our interactions with strangers in our daily lives.    

Please join David Johnson and Ranjana (Ranji) Ariaratnam for this workshop to bring NVC into your life. Or, if you’ve known of NVC already, to deepen your sense of how to put it into practice. Through interactive discussion, real-life examples from participants, experiential learning, and coaching you will gain an understanding of the principles of NVC and how to integrate them into your life.

Ranjana (Ranji) Ariaratnam and David Johnson share NVC with groups, couples, individuals, and organizations through workshops, series, group facilitation, mediation, and private sessions. Ranji & David draw on experiences from their years overseas as humanitarian aid workers in Africa, Asia, the Balkans, and Central America, and over 150 days of training each with world-renowned NVC trainers.  Together for over 12 years, Ranji & David have been exploring how NVC supports them as a couple and in all aspects of their lives, and how they can support others, both as a team and individually.  Ranji also offers TRE (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises) which they have found greatly complements NVC.  Currently, they split their time between northern California and Vancouver, BC.
